Everest Base Camp Trek

Trek to the base camp of the world’s highest Mount Everest, is definitely a trip of a lifetime. The journey begins with a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu overlooking the mighty Himalayas, to the Tenzing Hillary airstrip at Lukla. The trek commences along the banks of Dudh Koshi river valley through the green lush forest with the majority of Rhododendron, Fir, Pine, and Birch trees. Located in the Sagarmatha National Park, Encountering wild species of animals is highly possible, except for rare and endangered species like Red Panda and Snow Leopard.

Everest region is home to world-renowned highlanders Sherpa people, oriented toward Tibetan Buddhist culture making this trek a cultural delight. Namche Bazaar, Khumjung , Tengboche , Dingboche and Pangboche are some popular villages in the region. Prayer flags, prayer wheels, Mani Walls, Stupas, and Monasteries are some highlights. Among them, Tengboche Monastery is open for visitors, especially during the Mani Rimdu festival celebrated in October-November.

The region beyond Tengboche, an alpine zone is full of amazing sceneries of landscapes including mountain vistas Everest (8848m), Lhotse(8516), and Amadablam(6812m), Nuptse(7861m), Pumo Ri ( 7161m) and many others. The terrain is rough and is full of the glacier and lateral moraines. Khumbu glacier is a prominent glacier in the region and the world’s highest as it stretches from 4900m to 7600m at its source.

At the Base Camp, Everest along with Nuptse and other magnificent peaks are mesmerizing to spectate. However, the best view is from Kalapathar, elevated at an altitude of around 5560 meters. An ideal viewpoint for sunrise and sunset, panoramic views of a wide range of mountain peaks along with near-distant topography will definitely make you falling love with the Himalayas.
