Mirador de la Concepcion is one of the multiple viewpoints on La Palma island, one of those belonging to the Canaries. Since La Palma is a popular place for Astro tourism, this Mirador is also an excellent opportunity to observe the night sky, where the stars seem closer than ever before. However, it is not only the stargazing that attracts tourists but the location of the viewpoint as well.

Mirador de la Concepcion is situated on the edge of the rock called Risco de la Concepcion which stands near the volcano crater! This crescent-shaped crater is an unusual one because of the submarine origin, meaning that the eruption happened from under the water. Now, the Natural Monument of Risco de la Concepcion is one of the reminders of that eruption that caused the entire existence of La Palma island. The cliff is very steep since its height is more than 300 meters. Moreover, it represents the natural southern border of the capital Santa Cruz de la Palma. In 1917, there was the first tunnel built which connected the city and the port in Brena Alta, although now it's not used anymore and closed.

From the Mirador de la Concepcion at the altitude of 400 meters, you get the 360-degree view of the outskirts. From up here, you will definitely see the urbanized area in the opening area of the volcano crater, known as La Caldereta. There are cropping farms down there, as well as an abandoned quarry. If you look to the East, you'll see Tenerife and La Gomera, if to the North - the city of Santa Cruz up to Tenagua.

Another perk of Mirador de la Concepcion is the Hermitage of Our Lady of Concepcion (Ermita de Nuestra Señora de La Concepción), which was built in the 16th century and reconstructed in the 17th. Inside the Hermitage, the paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries are preserved. Most paintings portrait the Virgin Mary, often with the white rose, the symbol of purity.

So, if you want to enjoy the breathtaking panorama of Santa Cruz de la Palma while standing on the edge of the ancient submarine crater and then indulge in observing stars of the night sky - then Mirador de la Concepcion is exactly what you need!
