Lago Martianez, situated in Puerto de la Cruz - in the north of Tenerife, is an open-air swimming pool having luxury facilities. It is centered on an artificial lake having an approximate area of 100,000 sq. meters. Several terraces, bars, restaurants, viewpoints, solaria, and gardens are part of Martianez. Architect of this swimming pool complex was Casar Manrique. Along with the panoramic architecture structure, Manrique’s sculptures are also included in it.
Lago Martianez was built in the so-called Llanos de Martianez place which was previously home to many pools. Tourist activities started at the pool at the end of the 19th century and so it was added as the site of cultural interest under the Historic Garden category. People from all walks of life and ages can enjoy here. Quality of the environment gives the opportunity of relaxing and bathing to the tourist. Multiple places of dining are also built nearby it. The complex was extensively renovated between 2004 & 2006 and a casino was also erected here which has complemented all the other facilities. Therefore, it is described as the pride of Puerto de la Cruz. Thousands of people visit this complex every year.
