San Sabastian is located in the east of La Gomera and is known for its modern style administrative buildings and Canarian-style houses. Being the capital of La Gomera island. The main attraction of this locality is attached to the voyages of Columbus when he discovered America. Conde Tower built in the 15th century as a Spanish citadel is well maintained till this day. San Sebastian de La Gomera old town consists of a few streets with perfectly preserved buildings and many of them remember Christopher Columbus.

Trip to the old town of San Sebastian de La Gomera should also include visit of Casa Colon museum which has pre-Colombian art from Peru. Moreover, Casa de la Aguada having a permanent exhibition on the discovery of America should also be visited. Some more interesting places are Torre del Conde - a tower in the center of the valley, a museum where Guanche’s political, social and religious structures are well preserved, Playa de San Sebastian, Playa de la Cueva, Punta Llana, Majona Nature Park, and Pozo de La Aguada.

The major economic activity of the town is generated by the operational activities of the port as well as from transportation and tourism of Tenerife. Port of municipality helps tourists to reach by a ferry ride from the nearby Island of Tenerife. Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas are ferry companies connecting San Sebastian with the other Canary Islands.
