Kala Pathar, a Punjabi term, means Black Rock. As you climb up the Gorakhshep in the Nepalese Himalayas towards the southern edge of Pumori, you will locate the mountain Kala Pathar over there. Even though it is not an appropriate mountain but still well known among the trekkers in the region of Mt. Everest as it provides a very close view of the Everest.
Sightseeing of Nuptse, Changtse and Everest is clearly visible from Kala Pathar. World’s highest Webcam called Mt. Everest Webcam is situated on it. Many climb Kala Pathar mountain without any permit, however, it must be attained from the Nepal Mountaineering Association as climbing over without a permit might land in trouble. While going towards Everest Base Camp spending few hours here will make your journey worth remembering.
