Dai Yem Waterfall

Dai Yem Waterfall has a long history associated with the local Thai People. Visitors rate it as one of the best places to visit in the Moc Chau district of Son La Province. Primitive features are still distinguishable in the waterfall of mother nature. Mainly two stories are linked with the waterfalls. The first is about friendship b/w Lao and Vietnam. The second is related to the tectonic process that occurred in Moc Chai Land.

As per the first story, when enemies robbed and killed Lao, the young people in Ban Vat rushed to help the Lao people. There was a couple among the helpers. The boy volunteer to help the Lao People and asked the girl to come to meet at the site of Waterfalls. The girl continues to come every day, however, that boy never came. One day the locals saw a ribbon imprinted with the name of both lovers, and the girl was nowhere to be seen. Hence the name of the waterfall was kept Dai Yem Waterfall.

The second story is narrated by the locals as that there were a boy and girl living in the nearby village. Both of them were lovers. One day they went with the villagers to collect some firewood but the flood came. Everything was inundated but both of them rescued fortunately and as the water level went down, both of them looked for the villagers who were hiding on top of the tree. Girl with the help of its hairs and ribbon rescued the villagers and in deep respect to the couple, the waterfall named Dai Yem Waterfalls.

If you are planning to see the waterfalls, come between April and September as during this time, the level of water is good and it creates amazing scenery. In peak season, the waterfalls look like a silk ribbon. Waterfalls were originally coming into being by the Suoi Vat Stream. Two other small streams Bo Ta Chau and Bo Co Lam also compliment the original one. Suot Vat Stream continues towards the stream of Bo Sap and turns the waterfalls in the shape of Dai Yem Waterfall.

In order to fully enjoy the beauty of waterfalls, climb up the waterfall. Experience the water whispering and enjoy the streamflow. Try to reach the Dai Yem Waterfall as early as possible.
