2-Days Tour to Tozeur and Mountain Oasis from Djerba and Zarzis

1st day: Leave early in the morning and leave Djerba by ferry. Cross the town of El Hamma to the salt lake of Chott el-Jérid, the largest salt lake in North Africa. On the way to the mountain oasis, visit the Berber village of Chebika, famous for its springs. Then head to Midès, on the edge of the big canyons and enjoy the tranquility. Sample local food at a family pension and start the adventurous part of the tour. Cross the salt lake of Chott el-Gharsa towards Mos Espa, the largest location for Star Wars filming in Tunisia. Fasten your seat belts while your driver performs some stunts between the track and the sand dunes. At the end of the day, admire the sun setting behind the dunes and enjoy a cup of tea in front of the basket of Nefta, then go to bed.

2nd day: Have a good breakfast at the hotel then take a walk in the alleys of the medina of Tozeur in the company of your experienced guide. Admire handmade products and enjoy the smell of local fruits and vegetables. Leave Tozeur and head south, towards Douz, the gateway to the Sahara. Enjoy free time at the market and take the opportunity to take a camel or quad ride in the dunes, then have lunch at a local restaurant. Then take the road for 1 hour towards Matmata and take a break on the way to Tamezret, a traditional Berber village. Discover the troglodyte village of Matmata with its underground houses, its Berber inhabitants and its lunar landscapes. Admire the location of your favorite scenes from Star Wars. Visit the village of Toujane during your last stop, a village with earth colors and timidly hidden between two mountains.
